I have been enjoying the study in the Psalms that we have been doing over at Growing Together. We have been working through the Psalms and today's chapter was Psalm 16. This Psalm has been a sweet reminder for me that God is working things out in my life in ways that I usually don't think about.
Psalm 16:5 "Lord you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure."
The place I find myself right now was assigned to me by my Lord. He knows what he is doing. I am not here by chance, God planned it all out and put me right here for a very specific purpose.
16:6 "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance." I love this verse. It reminds me to be thankful to God for what he has done in my life. God has drawn out my place in life, put me in that place and I get to live this life he has given me. I can say with David, you have given me a delightful inheritance. Life can be difficult and painful but, there is joy even in the middle of the pain.
My house can be a crazy place. The kids are struggling today with many different things, and it has been a bit of a challenge. Yet I can look into each one of their faces and be thankful that I am the one who gets to be their mommy.
I am the one who gets to sit next to my DS as he practices his writing. He feels that he isn't doing well, but I see his daddy in his perfectionism.
I am the one who gets to sit next to my DD as she is learning to crochet. I love to do things with my hands like knitting, and crochet and I love that she is enjoying these things as well.
I am the one who gets to find my youngest DD in her crib without a stitch on because she is learning to take her clothes off. ;-)
I am the one who gets to cuddle with my DD3 who is struggling an ear infection.
and I am the one who gets to encourage another perfectionist DD5 who thinks her school work needs to be college quality.
I find it so encouraging to be reminded that I am the one who God has chosen to be these kids mommy. Not you, not anyone else, but me. This life isn't just a random set of occurances that happen to fall together this way, but rather a carefully planned out life, made just for me.
16:9 "Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure."
God has all this under control. He knows exactly what my tomorrow holds and I can rest secure knowing that whatever comes my way God knows about it first.
